Why I Started a Blog and Vlog
I recently started this blog along with a YouTube channel by the same name. I was a little apprehensive at first –– not sure if I wanted to put so many details about my life out there on the interwebs –– but I ultimately decided to do it. Here are the reasons I decided to share a portion of my life with the world –– and by world, I mean the 7 people, including my mother, that read my blog and watch my videos. 😂
To Document My Travels and Experiences
I spent 20 years in the Navy and traveled all over the world during that time. I lived in Hawaii and Italy and visited 17 other countries. I had so many great experiences but what I don't have are pictures and video and my memories of those adventures have faded over time. A perfect illustration of this point is the time I spent in Croatia.
Croatia is such a popular destination now –– I was fortunate to get to experience the cities of Split and Dubrovnik in 1999 before the rest of the world discovered how great they were. Unfortunately, that was 20 years ago, and my memories of Croatia have faded and have blended together with my memories of Italy and Slovenia. All I have from my time in Croatia is a couple grainy photos.
I am in my early forties now and I don't want to have the same issue 20 years from now when I am trying to recall my 2018 adventures. This blog and my YouTube channel will serve as a way for me to document my travels, so I can reflect on them later in life.

Maybe I can Inspire Others
Whether it was becoming debt free, learning to play the guitar or attending law school in my late thirties, I have always learned from and been inspired by blogs and vlogs. I especially enjoy blogs and vlogs that document someone's journey to achieve their goal –– I hope documenting my own journey to full time travel inspires and motivates others to do the same.

Accountability to Myself
I know there is mixed research on the effectiveness of sharing your goals with others, but sharing my goals has always created a sense of accountability and motivation to keep working towards accomplishing those goals.
Hopefully, documenting my travel adventures will lead to me traveling more often and eventually traveling full time.
Thanks for checking out my blog,
